Little Joys
The overall message I am trying to convey with my self portrait collage is to show that I am vibrant and love sweets and colorful things. The most obvious layer that stands out is a picture of me featuring a large smile. This represents optimism because I like to bring happiness to others and remember that there is always something to smile about. I then put a picture of my dog overlapping my face because I love him very much. He brings me great joy and represents loyalty and love. Another layer seen is towards the bottom half of my self portrait which shows a picture of my room lights that have miniature pictures hanging from them. These light decorations are suppose to represent perseverance and strength. They remind me to find light in the darkest of situations and not be afraid to stand out. In the background layer I included a picture of different types of chocolates that were displayed in a grocery store because chocolate is one of my favorite sweets. These are suppose to represent my sweet side and comfort because a small piece of chocolate can really lift up my mood. I also put another faint layer over the chocolate background that shows a picture of my laptop and stickers covering it. My laptop is suppose to represent my appreciation for technology and staying in contact with people everywhere. I enjoy engaging with others so this layer represents the joy I also find in communication. I chose to title my self portrait collage "Little Joys" because the layers show images that may be small in size, but are large in significance.

No Limitations
This is a double exposure edit and I think working in photoshop for this project was much more simplified than when I first used it on my selfie. In the beginning of the trimester I was new to photoshop so when I had to create new layers and figure out how to lock layers and rasterize images it was a longer task. For my double exposure edit it became like second nature to always check and make sure that when I pasted an image on a new layer, the smart object was rasterized. For this project I also learned how to incorporate text in my photo. For the first trimester project I also did not adjust the modes of images I only adjusted the opacity. In the double exposure image I messed with the modes of my images and specifically, changed the landscape image to the "lighten" mode. I also chose to have the sky in the landscape image taking up the top of my selfie in the background to connect to the saying "the sky is the limit" and if I mentally believe in myself, I can conquer anything. I decided to title this image "No limitations" because the landscape image I took is from when I stood upon Mount Anne in Wyoming. It was a very difficult climb and when I made it to the top I felt feelings of triumph. As I prepare to graduate from high school and start my future in college I want to remind myself of all that I have accomplished and to try my hardest to overcome any barriers and exceed limitations.
